A small, quiet life

Scooting around

We had a relatively cool front move through last night, so took advantage of the nice morning and lack of vehicles (Sunday) to scoot over to the public library to return some books. Had to take the slightly longer route back home because my usual railroad crossing was blocked by the guardrail--but no train in sight, nor could I hear the horn. Very odd.

I've not had an electric scooter before this year and am really enjoying it. It's so much nicer to run these little errands this way! Got one with a good amount of cargo space, so it even works for getting a fair bit of food from the one grocery store that's close enough and also has a bike rack. And at the farm market i can just put things directly into the baskets so it's easier on my hands and back to not have to carry.

It has a few downsides. No shocks, for one, since i went a little on the cheap side, not knowing how much i'd actually use it. It isn't waterproof, either, due to the battery being on the bottom, so must be very careful about puddles if riding after a recent rainfall. And the hand throttle is a little rougher on my hand than i anticipated--does activate my tremor after about 30 minutes of riding. That's helped by not going full-throttle, at least. And since i've little interest in going fast, that's perfect.
