A small, quiet life

Meal planning week of 20260830

Being a smidge over-budget for food this month (really unsure how that happened, other than just not paying attention) means that i pulled chicken and ham out of the freezer and then stuck to produce, eggs, and tofu at the grocery store this morning. Luckily, my pantry, fridge, and freezer were well-stocked otherwise, so this week won't be difficult on the meal plan front. Also luckily, one of my other budget lines is low, so the overall budget is fine.

Still need to figure out a way to work more iron into my diet on a regular basis. My weekly averages are running around 60-75% of where i need to be--with at least 10% coming from the half ounce of dark chocolate i have every day! A lot of plant foods that are high in iron are ones that i can only eat in small quantities, if at all. Bison is too expensive (can't do beef) to eat regularly. And it's even more important to not cut the calcium-rich foods than to eat more meat. Anyway.

My energy's pretty good today so i will:

Half the cookies will go into the freezer, as usual. The plantain and sorghum will be for dinners the next few days.

Tomorrow i'll be cooking the lunch veg and chicken, then assembling the three meals that get taken to work. That all needs to happen between getting the car's oil changed and attending a necessary webinar, which is why i'm doing some prep work today.

Starting Tuesday, meals will be:

Lunches will also have nutritional yeast sprinkled on, for the extra B vitamins (my body's generally happier with extra B12 and folate, especially). Usually i'd add it in with the tofu, but i really like it with potato!
