Books read 202610
Completed 22 books in October, with four DNFs. Also four re-reads (three from the same series). Am fairly certain that count is low; there aren't enough audio book re-reads to cover the number of migraines i had this month, which means i was forgetting to add them.
Seven of the completed were audio books. The rest were ebooks. So the continued ignoring of my physical to-read pile continues.
Some highlights:
Scott Paige's narration of Dionysus in Wisconsin (EH Lupton). New-to-me narrator and i thought he handled the wide variety of accents really well. Good pacing, too. And the story is just chef's kiss on the portrayal of libraries and archives, which i always appreciate. Was also the only thematically October-ish book i read this month.
Moira Quirk's narration of Etiquette & Espionage (Gail Carriger), which i somehow had never gotten around to before. Just all around A+ for both character voices and humor. Not sure i'll finish the series, though. Kids in peril is just not my thing these days. (It's Carriger. It'll all be more than fine. This is totally a my-jerk-brain issue.)
The series re-read was Amy Crook's The Future of Magic, which is supposed to have a fourth book coming before the end of the year. Very cozy post-post-apocalyptic fantasy. The usual found family and community-building, and also some deep dives into the process of magic. The author recently mentioned that the series has been picked up for audio, which i'm very excited about as it'll make a wonderful migraine listen.
