books read 202608
Completed 32 books in August, thanks in part to binge-reading the backlist of a new-to-me author. Three DNFs; four still in progress. Ten were audiobooks, and half of those were re-reads.
Favourites of the month:
- I Shall Never Fall in Love (Hari Connor). Really enjoyed the art in this YA graphic novel. Loved the historical (Regency) trans and POC rep that was in line with realities.
- Nobody's Baby (Olivia Waite). Second book in the Dorothy Gentleman mystery series. Kind of Poirot-in-space vibes. Only lesbian. Am intrigued to see where the overarching plot goes, but in the meanwhile am enjoying seeing how this ship's society runs.
- The Scent of the Ideal (R. Cooper). Another study in longing and pining from an author who i trust to handle that well. A medieval-with-magic, omega-ish world, but more third gender in some ways. Am hoping for more from this world; it has possibilities.
