I completed nineteen books in July, with one DNF (it was just boring). Of the completed titles, one was in physical format (a graphic novel) and three were audio (two re-reads from migraine days). Of the fifteen ebooks, three were re-reads.
Favourite audio book this month: The Apprenticeship of Julian St. Albans by Amy Crook. Keval Shah's narration just fits this series so well, and the way the character development starts to unfold makes this my favourite book in the series. The Consulting Magic series is a magical-contemporary romance series that follows a single couple. It has strong cozy leanings, though i'm hesitant to label it as such because Crook definitely puts both MCs through some things. For me, the cozy feel here is about the overall preponderance of vibes vs action--everything is resolved well before the end of the book, so the reader can just bask.
Favourite ebook this month: A Present for Parker by Jodi Payne and BA Tortuga. Yes, i read Christmas romance in July--i need the cold vibes when it's 100+! As is common with Payne and Tortuga, this is a hurt/comfort contemporary romance about finding home. It ties in to other books by them but would make a fine stand-alone, i suspect. And if you also want to mentally escape summer heat, the Merry Everything series (of which this is the fifth) would be a good way to go.
